All parks are located within walking distance of restaurants, grocery and convenience stores, and a laundromat. Parks are well-lit and have restroom facilities.
Camping: Parks allow camping on a first-come, first-served basis. There is no charge, but campers must check-in with the Town Office.
Western Maryland Rail Trail
The Western Maryland Rail Trail is a paved trail passing through Hancock, MD along its 28 mile path. The trail is well suited for walking, running, biking, and inline skating. The trail’s easy and leisurely path makes it ideal for families, the elderly, and persons with limited mobility. The trail is wheelchair accessible. Pets are permitted on the trail.

Take exit 3 from I-70 into Hancock. Travel west on MD 144 for 1.4 miles. Turn left into the Western Maryland Rail Trail parking lot.
C&O Canal Townpath
Running parallel to the Western Maryland Rail Trail and C&O Canal, the C&O Canal Townpath is a dirt and stone path that passes through Hancock, MD along its stretch of 184.5 miles. Visitors can take in the beauty of the Virginia Bluebell flowers along the trail during the months of March and April, when the path lights up with blue blooms.

Widmyer Park / Veteran’s War Memorial
This park has 4 pavilions available for reservation, full kitchen facilities, playgrounds, basketball and tennis courts, a ball field, horseshoes, volleyball, a branch of the Washington County Library, and a new public swimming pool coming summer 2023.
Widmyer Park is also home to the Veteran’s War Memorial, honoring 900 Hancock veteran whose years of military service range from the Civil War through the Persian Gulf War.
